Camogie: Arklow Rocks Vs Kilcoole

By Stephen Dunne,
Camogie: Kilcoole pip Arklow Rocks

Kilcoole will face Avoca or Carnew in the intermediate camogie final after beating Arklow Rocks on Tuesday evening in a hard fought game in Newtown.

Aisling McCabe gave Kilcoole a flying start when she scored a goal straight from the throw in with two added points from Niamh Donnelly.

Arklow were slow to start but took the game to Kilcoole and the game went from end to end.

Caressa O’Toole hit the back of the net to give Kilcoole a 2-2 lead but on the stroke of half time Arklow gave themselves a chance when Aine Byrne scored a goal.

Arklow were fast out of the blocks in the second half but could not break down the Kilcoole defence and found county keeper Nicky Keddy in her usual form.

Mairead Grennan and Aisling McCabe added futher points and Niamh Donnelly a goal as Kilcoole caught Arklow out on the counter attack.

Arklow will be disappointed with their form after a bright start to the season though the score in this game did not reflect how well they played.

Avoca and Carnew will play in the second semi-final in Aughrim at 6.30pm on Saturday evening.
