UNGUARANTEED AIB BONDHOLDERS PAID €1,000,000,000 TODAY
October 1, 2012 – Stephen Donnelly, Independent TD for Wicklow and East Carlow is handing over €1,000,000,000 notes today to raise awareness of the government’s payment of €1,000,000,000 to unknown and unguaranteed bondholders.
“This is not our debt. We owe these people nothing and we don’t know who they are. They are laughing all the way to the bank.
“It is unacceptable that the government is handing over this sort of money ahead of a budget that will cripple middle-Ireland, the closure of fronting services, and the sale of Ireland’s trees for the next 80 years, which is estimated to raise between €400 and €600 million.”
The mock €1,000,000,000 notes (attached) distributed this morning in Bray and Greystones Dart stations and on Westland Row, were created with Graphic Designer Con Kennedy, who also created the recent an Punt Nua bank notes.
