Wicklow singer hits out at banks

Wicklow songstress Luan Parle hit out at the banks today after learning of more interest charges on mortgages.

She wrote on her facebook page "So i'm going to have a bit of a rant now"..... Last month Bank of Ireland and ICS customers were told their variable rate mortgages would increase by a 0.5% from October 24.

Yesterday AIB bank announced that it was increasing the interest charged on its variable mortgages up to 4% from 3.5% in November; its second variable rates hike in three months!!!!

People are being pinned to the collar for a house that is already in negative equity & decreasing in value daily!!! Not to mention property tax, water charges etc that are all on the way.

The banks have been bailed out billions but who is there to help the people? and where will all these interest hikes end???

As a nation what can we do???

Attend any and all meetings you see advertised. You don't have to be a member of any political group or movement but you will learn a lot while also contributing. These increases are only the tip of the iceberg of what is going on in our Country, as you have already mentioned, water charges, property tax, cuts to Social Welfare, etc. If we don't all come together and say "ENOUGH", then it will be too late and our apathy will be seen as acceptance of these vicious austerity measures. Because of our silence, our Government is free to let the World think that all is well here in Ireland. We need to show them the reality. Watch out for details of a mass rally in Dublin on November 24th when it's hoped our outrage will be heard.

Not before time. Not mentioned in the above is the sharp increase in utility charges. Gas, electricity, and soon to arrive water charges. On top, the predicted 20% rise in food prices. Yet, few or no prosecutions on relation to the banks. And god forbid anyone from the former fianna fail govt being prosecuted for putting our island in hoc for the next 30 years or more to bail out their slush fund buddies on the banks. Fianna fail, fianna gael, labour, all mé feiners. Look out for no. One, feck the rest of us.I
