Wexford bus to provide service to Dublin
Wexford bus are set to provide a bus service from Arklow to Dublin.
Mayor of Arklow Peter Dempsey confirmed he has spoke with owner and operator Brendan Crowley.
The Wexford company will take in all the stops which have been cut by Bus Eireann.
It is their intention to provide a service through Arklow to service the needs of commuters that have been so badly let down by Bus Eireann. This will however take a number of weeks to get up and running but he has committed to me today (Monday) that it is going to happen. This will be an additional service to their current Airport Route.
The fact that over 22,000 people signed our petition has shown that there is a great need for this service.
The Mayor went on to say "Wexford bus are showing commitment to the people of the east coast and I would encourage everyone to use the service, it will be run on a pilot scheme to see if the project will be viable."
Patient at St.Vincent's hospital and bus user Jacinta Geraghty from Arklow said "I went to hospital last week on the bus, 14 of the 16 people who got on the bus in Arklow with me all got off at UCD and walked to the hospital, Bus Eireann are not living in the real world."
