Wexford bus to provide service to Dublin

By WicklowNews.net,

Wexford bus are set to provide a bus service from Arklow to Dublin.

Mayor of Arklow Peter Dempsey confirmed he has spoke with owner and operator Brendan Crowley.

The Wexford company will take in all the stops which have been cut by Bus Eireann.

It is their intention to provide a service through Arklow to service the needs of commuters that have been so badly let down by Bus Eireann. This will however take a number of weeks to get up and running but he has committed to me today (Monday) that it is going to happen. This will be an additional service to their current Airport Route.

The fact that over 22,000 people signed our petition has shown that there is a great need for this service.

The Mayor went on to say "Wexford bus are showing commitment to the people of the east coast and I would encourage everyone to use the service, it will be run on a pilot scheme to see if the project will be viable."

Patient at St.Vincent's hospital and bus user Jacinta Geraghty from Arklow said "I went to hospital last week on the bus, 14 of the 16 people who got on the bus in Arklow with me all got off at UCD and walked to the hospital, Bus Eireann are not living in the real world."

Hopefully they dont take free passes and look after the workers who pay for the services....... enough is enough bus pass users..... there should be only 1 bus each way per day that accept "FREEBIE Passes"

Are you for "real". You obviously don't know what real workers do. What about Carer's who do very REAL WORK and have bus passes. For us this is vital for hospital visits. Will this service honour these?

How about the stops at Jack Whites/Lil Doyles/Beehive - hope they include at least one, if not all of these.

Husband switched to Wexford bus last year for his commute to Dublin city after getting fed up with the really awful train service.......is delighted with the switch - a far superior and comfortable trip to town!

What is this person on, does he/she think they are the only person who works. The majority of the people who have bus passes are the likes of her/his older family members who have earned the right to the pass by working for it over their lifetime. These people are now in the autumn of their lives and mostly depend on them to have any means of getting out for the likes of hospital visits etc. You too will one day be their age and shame on you and your small mindedness.

Well done that man (Peter Dempsey), and I do hope that some agreement can be reached for the people who have bus passes.

To Real Worker or should I say Ass-hole these older people you are giving out about are the people who payed taxes to help pay for your education and for your parents to get childrens allowance. You dont know what is going to happen you in the future you could walk out under a bus and be left invalided and be glad of the free bus pass to get you to a hospital.

Real worker: youve hit the nail on the head.................... Your right in all this nothing about the workers trying to get to work and for the drivers who have to put up with changes... i hate seeing my regulars left at stops when the buses are full....there should be a limit to the amt of passes on each bus and this goverment need to look at the illness that deserves a free pass.............any one over 60 should get 1 for them but not 2....
