Councillor praises ambulance service

By WicklowNews.net,

Councillor Pat Fitzgerald has praised the ambulance service in south Wicklow following an unprecedented amount of calls in less than two hours last weekend.

The service was required at three GAA sporting events in Arklow, Aughrim and Glenmalure.

At the same time the service received three futher calls for incidents in the Arklow, Aughrim area.

"The professionalism of these people really shone through on Saturday, I was at one of the games myself in Arklow where a Carnew player had his leg broken, Dr.Brendan Cuddihy took control of the situation until the ambulance arrived".

"It just shows how important that the ambulance service is to the area", Councillor Fitzgerald told Wicklownews.net.

The ambulance service could not comment on the incidents but did say the calls were coming in thick and fast on Saturday.
