Strawberry fields for Katie
Arklow girl Katie Weadick sent a text for a competition after buying a punnet of strawberries in her local Tesco store and thought no more of it.
That was until Friday when she received a phone call from Irish fruit growers Keeling's congratulating her on winning first prize.
Katie told Wicklownews.net "I sent a text weeks ago after seeing the competition on the strawberries it asked how many Strawberries would it take to reach from Keeling's to the Strawberry fields in Central park, New York."
"I answered 135,167,500 and sent my name and address, I could not believe it when I got the call today."
Katie won a trip for two to New York for 5 days along with $1,000 spending money.
Katie's family are no strangers to the fruit industry as her Grandad Liam ran a fruit and veg shop on Arklow's Lower Main street.
Asked who would be joining her on the trip Katie said "I know who it will be, but I don't want to say yet because it will be a big surprise for them too."
