MONSTER CLOTHES SALE
Carnew Community Care are having a monster clothes sale on Tuesday 28th February from 3 pm - 6 pm with a great selection of new and good quality ladies, gents, children’s, baby clothes and footwear at very affordable prices.
SUPER RENUNION DISCO
A super reunion disco will be held on Saturday 3rd March in St. Brigid's Hall, Carnew from 10 pm - 1.30 pm with music by Byrne Bothers, all proceeds will go towards Askamore Education Centre.
CARNEW LIBRARY ADVOIDS CUTS
On Monday February 13th a group of Friends of Carnew Library handed in a petition of over 700 names and over 40 children’s drawings to Joe Lane, Director of Corporate Affairs, Wicklow County Council and to Cllr Sylvester Bourke, Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council at the council offices in Wicklow Town (see friends of Carnew Library Facebook page for images).
The Petition followed on from a very well-attended public meeting alerting the community to the proposed cuts to services and opening hours at the Library.
There has been a great result to the grassroots campaign with a new appointment to the library due in April and a less severe reduction in opening hours than had been proposed.
IMPORTANT PUBLIC MEETING
There will be an Important Public Meeting at Carnew Training and Development Centre on Thursday 1st March at 8pm, the Topic is Village Renewal Scheme, Carnew has been allocated 4 people to work under the new Tuc Scheme to enhance the village, anyone interested in improving Carnew please come to this meeting and give your village a FACELIFT!
CARNEW AND DISTRICT AGRICULTURAL SHOW AGM
A very well attended AGM was held recently in Kenny's Corner House. The chairman was glad to welcome some new faces attending.
In looking back on the 2011 show it was agreed that the show was a good success, with good entries in all sections particularly sheep classes.
The chairman John Doran thanked the landowners for giving the lovely site to hold the show and reported that the 2012 show will again be run at Umrigar on Saturday 21st July.
A minutes silence was held in respect of honoury member Florrie Dagge who passed away recently and also all those who have lost loved ones during the year.

VINTAGE PLOUGHING
Carnew Heritage Club would like to say a big thank you to everyone who ploughed last Saturday at their annual vintage ploughing match, a special welcome to the ladies who ploughed, to all who helped in anyway, the judges, stewards, Fiona Gahan for the food, Patrick Nolan for cleaning the road, the landowner John Doyle, to everyone who made donations to which will go towards Carnew Community Care.
SENIOR SCOR
The County Round of senior scor will take place on this Saturday 25th February at 8 pm in The Brockagh Centre Laragh.
