Freak snowstorm in Blessington

While most of the county enjoyed spring sunshine today Blessington suffered a freak snowstorm.
The west Wicklow town had also been enjoying the sunshine but at 3 o'clock spring turned to back to winter for almost half an hour.
James Bowers-Lee of Mcgreals pharmacy in the town told Wicklownews.net "One minute the sun was shining through the window and suddenly what was sleet turned to snow, it was amazing."
MET Eireann's forecast for the rest of the day reads as follows... Dry and clear tonight in many parts with isolated, wintry showers becoming confined to coastal parts, mainly in the west and north. Cold with lowest temperatures of -2 to 3 degrees Celsius, highest in western Altantic coastal areas. Widespread frost, with icy stretches on the roads. Winds backing westerly overnight will decrease light to moderate.
