9 month jail term for attack on tourists

A Wicklow town man has been sentenced to 9 months in jail after he pleaded guilty to an assault on two Dutch tourists in the town.

Thomas Conlon of Glenview road, Wicklow town pleaded guilty to assault and breaching the public order act on St.Patrick's day last year.

Conlon admitted assulting the tourists and was given 6 months for the offence by Judge Murrough Connellan.

The Judge also issued Conlon with a 3 month sentence for the public order breach.

In sentencing Judge Connellan criticised Conlon for pleading guilty at the last available opportunity which could have saved the victims an unnecessary journey from Holland to Bray for the court hearing.

Garda Marco De Luca was the prosecuting Garda in the case.

He should have been given 9 years , scum like that do not deserve any kind of human rights
