Katie named Sportswoman of the month

Wicklow’s world champion boxer Katie Taylor has been named sportswoman of the month.
The Irish Times / Irish Sports Council awarded the 26 year old the honour following her fourth successive world title in May.

The Bray born lightweight notched up her fourth title after beating Russian Southpaw Sofya Ochigava in a tense world championship final in northern China last month.

This is her fifth time to win a Sportswoman award and she will battle it out against the other monthly winners in December for the overall Sportswoman of the year title.
