A pensioner from Co. Wicklow who drowned while on holiday in Spain was named last night as Andrew Doyle from Grangecon, who was in his 70s.

Andrew immigrated from Grangecon in the 1950's to London where he started up a successful construction company.

He was a great supporter of GAA both in London and Wicklow and was a main contributor to the building at the county grounds in Aughrim.

Wicklow supporters said today "Every time we played in Ruislip he made us very welcome and was delighted Wicklow were in town whether it was football or hurling, he was a gentleman."

Last year Andy sponsored the county ladies minor football team.

Tragically, his 21-year-old grandnephew, Nick Keogh from Baltinglass also drowned while on holiday in 2007.
