Wicklow man young driver of the month

Kevin Sheane has been selected as the Dunlop Young Racing Driver of the Month for May, for his achievements during the month. At the first car race meeting for almost four decades at Bishopscourt, the 22 year old from Wicklow Town won two of the three Formula Sheane races and finished third in the remaining race, and now holds the lap record for the class at the County Down circuit.
Combined with his results from other events, this leaves him holding second place in his defence of the Formula Sheane title, which he won in both 2010 and 2011. With the season approaching the halfway point, he is currently a strong contender to complete a hat-trick of championships. He may well stay with the class again in 2013, but would also like to try some Formula Ford races.
Kevin is sponsored by Sheane Cars, Mondello Park, D and W Crash Repairs, Edwin Davison Photos, Tallaght Powder Coating, and On-Site Orthotics. He started racing in 2008 in the Formula Vee class, and switched to Formula Sheane the following year. He has also worked for Sheane Cars for six years,
Having been selected as the second Dunlop Driver of the Month for the 2012 season, Kevin is now a contender for the prestigious Dunlop Motorsport Ireland Young Racing Driver of the Year Award and the historic Sexton Trophy. This award is presented annually and is sponsored by Dunlop, the Irish Sports Council and Motorsport Ireland.
