Roundwood street festival 15th July

Roundwood Street Festival - Sunday 15th July
All roads lead to Roundwood (the highest village in Ireland) on Sunday 15th July, from 4pm -7pm for its first ever Street Festival!
This promises to be a fun filled evening, with something for everyone.
Aughrim Pipe Band will get the evening off to a lively start as they march up the Main Street from the Roundwood Inn to the Gig Rig which will be set up outside the Parish Hall. Following on you will be entertained by local bands and performers including “Coddle’’ and “Stagebratz”. Instructors will put the crowds through their paces on the purpose built floor in various dance moves including Zumba, Line and Irish dancing.
Why not visit Joan in her Country Kitchen and watch as she makes real organic homemade butter, chats to her visitors and is entertained by local dancers and performers.
The Main Street will be closed to traffic for short periods while a Skipping Race takes place with participants from the local Sporting Clubs all fighting for first place. This will be followed later in the evening by a Barman’s Race, so good luck to all taking part.
A kid’s corner with face painting, pet’s corner along with other side shows will provide entertainment for the younger ones while the main attraction, featuring for the first time in Roundwood, will be the Criss Cross Zorb Balls!! An experience not to be missed!
Other attractions in the day will be a dog show, tug of war and drumming workshops.
And if by then you are feeling a little peckish, why not make your way to the BBQ, which will be set up at Kavanagh’s Pub.
The evening will draw to a close with performances and the announcement of the winner of the Singing Pubs Competition, judged by The Voice of Ireland Star Kim Hayden, who has kindly offered to close the proceedings with a song or two from her new album.
All in all a great evening’s entertainment is guaranteed for all the family! So make sure you keep July 15th free and do come along and join in the craic!
