Pensioners tied up in robbery

Three men wearing balaclavas and carrying weapons took off with a number of items robbed from a house in Rocky Valley Drive, County Wicklow overnight.

Gardaí say the three men entered the residence at Rocky Valley between 2.30 and 3.30am. wielding a hatchet and crowbars, the three men tied up a couple who were in the house at the time, before taking valuable jewellery and paintings.

Although the couple were assaulted, their injuries are not considered serious, however they remain very shook up after the incident.

The aggravated burglars who wore balaclavas and gloves are believed to be from Dublin, are described as being between 5'10" and 6' tall with the third man to be around 6'5".

Gardai are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anything untoward in the Rocky Valley area last night through to the early hours of this morning, and have a particular interest in a silver Fiat Punto and a silver Nissan Primera that may have been in the proximity at the time.
