Weather for the weekend

MET Eireann say from Thursday night through to Sunday, the weather will be unsettled with showers each day and there will be times when the showers merge to give longer spells of rain.

However, there will be good dry and bright intervals as well with sunshine.

Temperatures on Friday will be between 16 and 20 degrees, highest in any prolonged sunshine.

Winds on Friday will be between south and southeast, with inland locations having mostly light breezes but coastal districts will be quite blustery at times.

On Saturday, winds will turn east to northeast, making it feel cooler, especially in the east. Highest temperatures on Saturday will be between 15 and 18 degrees.

Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday will see some improvement with probably not so many showers about.

The mornings should be mostly dry and there will be more room for sunshine throughout the day, but a few heavy showers are still likely in the afternoon and early evening. With northwesterly breezes prevailing, temperatures will remain a bit on the cool side, generally in the mid to high teens.
