Over turned tractor closes road for three hours
A section of the road between Newcastle and Rathnew was closed for three hours after a tractor and Trailer over turned on Thursday evening.
Emergency services including Gardai from Newtown and fire units from Greystones and Wicklow which included a specialist emergency tender attended the scene at Blackditch, Newcastle on the R761 just after 4.30pm.
Specialist heavy lifting equipment was brought in by Kelly Recovery to right tractor.
The cause of the accident is unknown, it is understood the tractor belonged to a local agricultural contractor, who sustained no serious injuries.
Within minutes of this incident closing Fire units from both towns were then dispatched to a house fire in Newtownmountkennedy which was dealt with speedily and efficiently with little damage to property and no injuries were reported.
