An Arklow family have praised Councillor Pat Fitzgerald after assisting them after their Mother broke her hip while on holiday.

Mary Forde of Marian Villas in Arklow was on holiday at Carandaragh park in Cavan when she fell and broke her hip, Mrs Forde was taken to Cavan hospital and then transferred to Drogheda.

Doctors in Drogheda told Mrs Forde's family that she would be in hospital for a considerable length of time, given the distance from Arklow it would not be practical for the family to be with their Mother 24 hours a day, the family then set a plan of action to get Mr's Forde transferred to St.Vincent's in Dublin where she had been treated last year.

Mary Hempenstall Daughter of Mary called Councillor Pat Fitgerald for assistance.

Pat called us the very next day and told us our Mother was to be transferred, he really helped us in our hour of need we can't thank him enough.
