Jobs need to be focus for government - Donnelly

An internet poll issued by Stephen Donnelly, TD for Wicklow and East Carlow has revealed what people think the Dáil should tackle as a matter of urgency when it returns on September 18th.
“With 15% of the labour force out of work, it’s not surprising that job creation is the most pressing issue for people. Renegotiation of our “bail out” terms comes second. The economic and social devastation being wreaked in Ireland by the massive bailout of the banks is becoming more and more obvious.”
In the light of these results, I’m calling on the government to revisit and fast track the €2.25 billion investment in job-rich public infrastructure projects announced in July. “
The Question: What is the most pressing issue the Dáil should be addressing when it returns in September?
The Responses:
1. 29% job creation
2. 19% Renegotiation of bailout terms
3. 12% personal Debt and Bankruptcy
4. 12% Mortgage arrears
5. 1% Dress code for TDs
Respondents also added their own suggested priorities. These included;
· Reforming our Education System
· Reducing the number of TDs to 100
· Legislating for the X case
· Renegotiation of Croke Park Deal
· Tackling Upward only rent reviews
· Cutting Welfare
