Bus route must stop at St.Vincents hospital-Timmins

By WicklowNews.net,

Deputy Billy Timmins, Fine Gael, has called on Bus Eireann to continue servicing the bus stops on the Dublin Rosslare/Rosslare Dublin Bus route. A number of constituents have been in touch with Deputy Timmins expressing their concerns about the stops on this route including the stops at St Vincent’s Hospital, the RDS., and Clare Street.

Many people living in the Arklow area commute to Dublin and have tailored their working hours around the current service. At present commuters are up early in the morning to get to Dublin and it would make working life more difficult if they had to go on the earlier bus in order to commute around the city on different buses to get to work and college.

Many people in this area attend St Vincent’s Hospital and the removal of this stop would cause severe hardship for patients and visitors, particularly the elderly and those who have no transport.

Deputy Timmins is continuing to follow up on this matter with Bus Eireann to ensure that these stops are maintained as the removal of these stops would be a retrograde step.

People travelling on the Wicklow bus have never had the luxury of a bus stop at St. Vincents. They have had to traipse the full length of Nutley Lane in all weathers.

At least the Wicklow bus has several stops through the city. The proposed changes to the Number 2 could see it going directly to Bus Aras.
